You can convert AVIF to WMV with MConverter in three easy steps:
Choose AVIF files from your device
At the top of this page, drag and drop your AVIFs. You can also click to select AVIF files using your operating system's file picker. Another method is to press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V (⌘+V on Mac) to paste an AVIF file you have copied to clipboard. Converting a folder with AVIF files to WMV is also supported: simply paste or drag and drop it.
Click or tap on WMV from the list of target formats
Alternatively, you can use the search field to quickly find the format you need, whether it's WMV or something else.
Download your WMV files, after MConverter has finished processing them
There's an option to automatically download the converted WMV files, so you don't have to press the download icon for each WMV. On desktop platforms, you can download the WMV files to a different folder by clicking on SAVE TO... You may see a share icon as well. Use it to directly share the WMVs with other apps.
About the formats
Image file formats
AOMedia (Alliance for Open Media)
The AV1 Image File Format (AVIF) is a new format which promises better compression and smaller file sizes than JPEG, PNG, WebP, and all other current image formats on the web. Based on the generic HEIF image format, AVIF supports alpha transparency, HDR, lossy and lossless compression. AVIF is already being used by Netflix and Microsoft.
Support in Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (like Microsoft Edge and Opera) has landed in late August 2020. Firefox can display AVIF images from version 93, released in October 2021. Meanwhile, Apple's Safari will support AVIF in iOS 16 (coming Fall 2022).
MConverter's AVIF encoder uses a Constant Rate Factor (CRF) of 10, so that there is no noticeable reduction in image quality while keeping the file size as small as possible.
MConverter also lets you create AVIF animations from video or GIF, up to 5 minutes long. Note that AVIF animations are currently only playable in Chrome and not Firefox.
Video file formats
WMV stands for Windows Media Video. Based on the Microsoft Advanced Systems Container Format (ASF), WMV files are meant for streaming and playing with Windows Media Player and the newer Movies & TV app on Windows 10 and 11. Note that WMVs can be encrypted with DRM protection.
To achieve greater compatibility, you can convert WMV to MP4 or another video format.
