Our story
MConverter’s journey began in 2017 as a personal hobby project by software engineer Martin Minchev, who was then just a high school student. What started as a simple API-based tool for converting media files has evolved into a comprehensive platform that serves millions of users worldwide.
The very first MConverter server: an old gaming PC in a garage, and a monitor on a skateboard, propped up on shoeboxes.
Over the years, MConverter has transitioned from a niche tool into a modern Progressive Web App (PWA), mobile app, browser add-on, and desktop-integrated utility. Our evolution has been driven by a single focus: using modern web technology to remove the "tax" of file incompatibility. Today, we handle everything from standard PDF-to-Word conversions to cutting-edge image transcoding like AVIF and JPEG XL.
Oh, and needless to say, that first improvised server is no longer being used :) MConverter now lives in certified data centers.
Martin leads all things technical: from designing and developing the software to managing servers and keeping the platform running smoothly, while occasionally battling the most obscure bugs. With a passion for bloat-free web development and cybersecurity, he wears every hat needed to bring MConverter to life.
Vanissia combines her background in Project and Change Management with a genuine passion for creativity. Her instrumental contribution is scaling and activating social media through original, insight-driven approaches that strengthen brand awareness and help build a long-term, win-win relationship between MConverter and its community.

Process isolation
Every file is converted in a separate, isolated environment. This approach further limits the possibility of a rogue file interfering with other users' conversions.
Your files. Your control
You are the only person who can view the files you upload. After the conversion completes, your files are automatically deleted from our servers in 4 hours. You can also immediately delete them by clicking the trash icon.
Responsible handling
If a conversion fails, you may give permission to use your files for resolving the issue by contacting us. Even then, we have strict internal protocols for handling your data. As soon as the problem is fixed, your files are permanently deleted on our end.
Bug bounty program
We pay independent security researchers for responsibly reporting security issues to us. This way, more experts are looking for any potential weaknesses, so we can fix them quickly before they are exploited.
Secure transmission
Your files are transferred using industry-standard encryption methods and the latest technologies, such as TLS 1.3 and HSTS. No one can intercept your files over the network.
Data center certification
MConverter uses only reputable cloud service providers with independent, internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 certifications.
No third parties
We do not sell, rent, share or give away your files to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. All processing of your files is done entirely in-house.
