WMV stands for Windows Media Video. Based on the Microsoft Advanced Systems Container Format (ASF), WMV files are meant for streaming and playing with Windows Media Player and the newer Movies & TV app on Windows 10 and 11. Note that WMVs can be encrypted with DRM protection.To achieve greater compatibility, you can convert WMV to MP4 or another video format.
