How to convert JXL to PPM?

You can convert JPEG XL (JXL) to PPM with MConverter in three easy steps:

Choose JXL files from your device or cloud storage
At the top of this page, drag and drop your JXLs.

Alternatively, click on the Browse box to select files with your device's file picker, or copy and paste a JXL file by pressing Ctrl+V (or ⌘+V on Mac).

If supported by your device, you'll see a Share icon, allowing you to directly send converted files to other apps.

Format description

JPEG XL (or JXL) is a new image format with better compression than other image formats like legacy JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and others. Designed for the modern web and with professional photography in mind, JPEG XL offers a more efficient way of storing images. In addition to supporting alpha channels/transparency, lossless, progressive loading and animations, the new image format promises high speed encoding and decoding even on phones.

JPEG XL has experimental support in Firefox, Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers like Edge. For now, you need to enable a feature flag for the browsers to display JXL images.

MConverter’s conversions from JPEG XL are lossless, so there is no reduction in the quality of your images.
When converting from JPG or GIF to JXL, the quality is mathematically lossless. In all other cases when converting to JXL, the image quality is kept visually lossless. Your images will look visually identical.

Format description

PPM is a Portable Pixel Map image file with support for 24-bit colors. The format is rarely used for non-temporary storage of large images, because PPM does not use compression. This makes it less efficient when compared to other bitmap image formats, such as BMP.
