How to convert HEIC to JXL?

You can convert HEIC to JPEG XL (JXL) with MConverter in three easy steps:

Format description

HEIC is a new graphics format, containing one or more images stored in the High Efficiency Image Format (HEIF). This format, which is more efficient than JPEG, is heavily pushed by Apple on iOS and MacOS.
However, other operating systems may not be able to open such files, so it is a good idea to convert to another image format with wider adoption (JPG, PNG, or more efficient ones like WebP, JXL, or AVIF) when sending a photo from an iPhone, for example.

Format description

JPEG XL (or JXL) is a new image format with better compression than other image formats like legacy JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and others. Designed for the modern web and with professional photography in mind, JPEG XL offers a more efficient way of storing images. In addition to supporting alpha channels/transparency, lossless, progressive loading and animations, the new image format promises high speed encoding and decoding even on phones.

JPEG XL has experimental support in Firefox, Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers like Edge. For now, you need to enable a feature flag for the browsers to display JXL images.

When converting from JPG or GIF to JXL, the quality is mathematically lossless. In all other cases when converting to JXL, the image quality is kept visually lossless. Your images will look visually identical.
