Format description
An ISO file is a disc image of an optical disc, such as a CD or DVD. It is a type of non-compressed archive file which contains everything that is written on a disc, the file system included. If you cannot mount an ISO file, you can convert it to another archive format, such as ZIP, which can be opened more easily.
Common questions about ISO conversions
How to open an ISO file?
If you don't know how to view an ISO file, you can convert it to another format you already recognize. You can use MConverter for the conversion.
Can I convert ISO files in bulk?
Yes, MConverter supports batch converting of multiple ISO files at once. You can even drag and drop folders containing ISOs. Pasting ISO files and folders copied in the clipboard also works: use Ctrl+V.
Can I convert an ISO file, if its size is 10 GB?
Yes, with MConverter Max you can convert big ISOs, up to 10 gigabytes each. The free version lets you convert files up to 100 MB. If you need to convert ISO files over 100 megabytes, try MConverter Max. If your files aren’t over 1 GB, then you can use MConverter Plus instead, as it’s cheaper.
Is converting ISOs safe with MConverter?
For cloud-based conversions, MConverter encrypts your ISO files using the latest technologies, such as TLS 1.3 and HSTS. They are transmitted securely to our cloud service provider’s EU-based data center, which holds internationally recognized ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications. There, each conversion is processed in a separate, isolated environment. This technique further reduces the risk of a malicious file impacting other conversions. Four hours after the conversion is complete, your files are automatically deleted from MConverter’s systems. You can also permanently delete your ISOs and other converted files immediately after finishing the conversion with the trash icon. When converting on-device, your files never leave your device. MConverter processes them locally. Note: on-device conversions are not yet available for some hardware-intensive formats. For both cloud and on-device conversions, your files are never scanned or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Join thousands who have trusted MConverter to process over 18,026,481 files so far.
How long does it take to convert ISO?
For most archive files, the wait is often less than a minute. However, MConverter also supports converting larger archive files, meaning that it could take a while (up to over an hour, for example).
